The Mission of the Seattle Presbytery Social Justice and Peacemaking Ministry Team is:
- To encourage and strengthen a Presbyterian call to peace building through active non-violence.
- To inform the Seattle Presbytery and local churches of peace and social justice issues as they arise and be a resource to clergy and congregants.
- To celebrate the work of Churches and individuals who embody Christ’s call to be about the things that make for peace. Luke 4:16-19
- To draw upon the resources of the PCUSA and highlight Presbyterian mission in peacemaking and social justice around the world.
- To encourage the development of visionary ministries of peace and justice.
- To promote the yearly Peacemaking Offering to raise funds for each church as well as the peacemaking work of General Assembly, the Synod, & Presbytery.

What We Do:
Quarterly Peace Breakfasts — Facilitated by the Dick Lutz Peace Fellowship, quarterly pot luck breakfasts are held on the third Saturdays of months listed at Overlake Park Presbyterian Church, 1836 156th Ave NE, Bellevue, WA

Advocacy in matters of justice and peace — Efforts to raise awareness on the issues of racism, sexism, inclusion, stewardship of the earth, inter-faith dialogue, and other justice concerns.
Recognizing Exceptional preaching — A yearly “peacemaking preaching award” will be given each Fall to Active Seattle Presbytery pastors for sermons preached on social justice & peacemaking subjects.
International Peacemakers and Inter-faith Listening Teams — On a yearly basis we host internationally known peacemakers to broaden our perspective on the world and our call to be peacemakers.
The International Peacemaker for 2010 will be announced in August 2010 and the schedule will be circulated to all the congregations in the Seattle Presbytery. Plan now to invite the International Peacemaker to a bible study, a Sunday morning class, a mid week congregational event, a youth group gathering, a Seniors lunch, in other words the opportunities are up to you,be creative!
